It depends on how many pages you need and whether anything has to be sold or booked through the site. A three page site for a sole trader and a twelve page site with a shop attached are very different jobs, so a single number on a page would be misleading either way.

A small site is usually a couple weeks from first conversation to going live. The build itself is rarely the slow part. What holds most projects up is waiting on photos, wording and a decision about the domain, so the sooner you can get those over, the sooner it launches.

Not at all, and it is more common than not. We can write the wording for you from a conversation about how you actually describe the work, and use good stock photography where you do not have your own.

Your own photos will always beat stock, though. Even phone photos of real jobs are worth having if you can take a few.

No. You need to know your business. Domains, hosting, email records and the rest are our job, and we will explain anything you want explained without making you feel daft for asking.

For anything that needs us there in person, like a first sit down or photographs of the premises, we cover most areas in North Devon. That takes in Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, Braunton, Lynton, Barnstaple and Bideford, and stretches out to South Molton and Great Torrington.

None of the actual build needs us in the room, though. If you are further out, or anywhere else English speaking, the whole job can run over calls and email and it works perfectly well.

No. Sites are written by hand and served as plain files from Cloudflare. In practice that means pages load quicker, there are no plugins to keep updating, and there is far less that can break on its own at two in the morning.

The trade-off is honest: there is no dashboard for you to log into and redesign the site yourself. Most small businesses never wanted that anyway, but it is worth knowing before you choose.

It will. We build the desktop layout first, then go back and rebuild it for phones rather than letting it squash down to fit. Most people who find a local business online are on a phone, often outside, often in a hurry. Where the phone layout needs to be a different shape from the desktop one, we build that shape properly, so it never reads as a desktop site crammed onto a small screen.

Yes. For a proper shop we add Shopify or Snipcart, which handles the basket, the card payments and the tax side. If you only need to take a deposit or a one off payment, a Stripe link is simpler and cheaper.

Which one suits depends on how many products you have, so it is worth mentioning early.

Throughout. You get a link to the real site as it is being built, so you can open it on your own phone rather than judging it from a picture. Speak up while things are still easy to move.

A site can be built around a strong name and a considered set of colours and type without a logo at all. If you have one already we will work with it, including tidying it up for screen use if it was only ever made for a van or a sign.

You do. The domain is registered in your name, and the site files are yours to take elsewhere if you ever want to. We are not interested in holding anyone’s website hostage.

Send us a message and we will do it. Changes are charged for the work involved, either by the hour or as a fixed price for a bigger job.

If you would rather not think about it each time, there is an optional care plan. It is a monthly fee that covers fixes and small changes, and it puts you at the front of the queue when something needs sorting quickly.

It is entirely optional and there is no minimum contract. If you would rather pay per job, that is completely fine.

We can sort all three. If you would rather not deal with any of it, we can manage the hosting for you for a monthly fee, which covers keeping the site up and handling the technical side when something changes.

Or we set everything up and hand the keys over, so you own and pay for it directly and we are out of the loop. Either way you will know exactly what is registered where, and in whose name.

Every site we build comes set up properly for search engines: sensible page titles and descriptions, a readable sitemap, and clean fast pages, which Google does take into account.

We can also set up or tidy your Google Business Profile, which for a local trade is usually worth more than anything on the site itself. What we do not do is sell ongoing SEO retainers.

Tell us and we will look at it. A site with no database and no plugins has very little that can fail, but forms and third party tools can still have a bad day. If it is something we got wrong, fixing it is on us.
